For those who only have a day of sightseeing in Rio…the below tour is ideal and will bring you the best highlights of the city.
First, you will be blown away by the fantastic views from the Cable which will transport you between the « Morro da Urca » and the most famous landmark in Brazil, the « Pao de Açucar » (or Sugar Loaf), from which you will have a privilege view of the Guanabara Bay.
Then you will visit the Maracanã stadium, who opened in 1950 for one of the most famous Footbal World Cup in history. This stadium is one of the biggest in the world and it has its own museum, detailing the history of the Brazilian Football team through the years.
You should not either miss the unique Samodrome, also known as Apoteose sqare, in downtown Rio, where samba schools parade competitively each year during Carnival. This major Brazilian landmark was designed by Oscar Niemeyer and built in 1984. It consists of 700 m stretch of the Marquês de Sapucaí street converted into a permanent parade ground. Let yourself be surprised by the interesting design of Rio’s most bizarre monument : San Sebastian Cathedral. Its shape is one of a teepee, or a cone. Inside, it has magnificent stained glass windows which allows the sunlight to change colours depending on the time of the day.
You will also wander around the street of Rio’s historic city center, which will give you the opportunity to learn a lot more about Brazil’s history.
Last but not least…you will discover one of the Seven Wonders of the World : the Corcovado. This mountain in the middle of Rio is 710m high and is known for the status of Jesus that is on its peak and known as “Christ the Redeemer”.
We will finally go back to our starting point by the sea road, enabling you to discover some of Rio’s most wonderful beaches.
